Sharing inspirational stories
To help people understand their teacher training options, teachers, at all stages of their careers, will share their journey into the profession during Love to Teach Week. This will help people navigate their options when it comes to deciding what route is best for them.
Ashley Arnell, a teacher at Penbridge School is sharing his journey into the profession to highlight the teacher degree apprenticeship route. Ashley became a teaching assistant apprentice at the school in 2018.
He soon progressed to a higher level teaching assistant where he covered classes and began to teach on his own. Ashley said:
"My history with Penbridge School goes back to being a pupil here. I always knew teaching was for me.
Ashley Arnell
"I joined as a teaching assistant apprentice. Since then, my training has been organic. I have progressed to become a higher level teaching assistant.
"I decided during that time, that I would like to progress and study further to become a teacher. I attended the University of Chichester for four years part time whilst still working at the school. Following that, I then completed a teacher degree apprenticeship to gain QTS status.
"I hope to complete my apprenticeship this October. It has been great to develop at the school and I hope to remain here for years to come."
